Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • Chocolate Fudge Frosting
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until glossy and smooth.

  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, then mix until fully combined.

  4. Stir in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt just until no dry streaks remain. Do not overmix.

  5. Spread half of the brownie batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  6. Arrange the sliced strawberries evenly over the batter.

  7. Carefully spread the remaining brownie batter over the strawberries.
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the center is just set and a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
  9. Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan before frosting.
  10. Chocolate Fudge Frosting
  11. Beat the softened butter until creamy and smooth.

  12. Add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder gradually, mixing until combined.

  13. Mix in the vanilla extract and heavy cream or milk until the frosting is thick and spreadable.

  15. Chill for 20 minutes before slicing for clean edges.

Notes

• For the fudgiest brownies, avoid overbaking. The center should be just set with moist crumbs on a toothpick.
• Use fresh strawberries only. Frozen strawberries release too much moisture and can make the brownies soggy.
• Let the brownies cool completely before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting.
• Chilling the brownies before slicing helps create clean, sharp edges.
